Regeneration - Employment and Economy

There are two theme groups within the Regeneration Partnership focusing on Employability and Economic Development, and they aim to deliver a strategic vision for employment and the economic well-being of the Borough. The theme groups involve a number of agencies, stakeholders and community representatives directly in this work and aim to deliver regeneration by:

  • Building on changes taking place in our local economy
  • Stimulating a thriving economy based on our strengths of manufacturing services, primary industries and tourism as a means of generating social and economic growth
  • Tackling the barriers to employment
  • Matching the skills and abilities of local people to the needs of modern commerce
  • Creating a culture of lifelong learning

The theme groups will deliver this agenda by:

  • Developing the renewable energy and recycling sector
  • Bringing contaminated / derelict land back in to use
  • Developing the tourist, sport and leisure industry
  • Developing the rural economy
  • Increasing access to employment opportunities
  • Developing the skills and knowledge of the workforce

See our Contacts page for details of how to contact the groups support officer.
