It has also been remodeled to respond to the introduction of national standards, compliance with the principles of the National Intelligence Model and the new opportunities for public engagement and scrutiny of our services.

In the past year, the SCP has undergone a review to identify potential improvements in the way we conduct business. The Constitution is being reviewed and a new Community Safety Plan is being produced. The SCP has been heavily involved in the negotiations for the new Local Area Agreement and has been praised by Government Office for the North East for the work that was put into it. The multi-agency @Neighbourhood Policing' approach started in Redcar & Cleveland on the 2nd April 2007 and beings with it an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the response communities receive to issues they have identified.
