Sustainable Communities - Employment
The Employment Partnership aims to deliver a strategic vision for the economic well-being of the Borough and has established a theme group which involves a number of agencies, stakeholders and community representatives directly in this work. The group, chaired by Deb Leighton from Working Links, aim to deliver regeneration by: -
- Building on changes taking place in our local economy
- Stimulating a thriving economy based on our strengths of manufacturing services, primary industries and tourism as a means of generating social and economic growth
- Tackling the barriers to employment
- Matching the skills and abilities of local people to the needs of modern commerce
- Creating a culture of lifelong learning.
The Partnership will deliver this agenda by:
- Developing the renewable energy and recycling sector
- Bringing contaminated / derelict land back in to use
- Developing the tourist, sport and leisure industry
- Developing the rural economy
- Increasing access to employment opportunities
- Developing the skills and knowledge of the workforce
